Thinking outside the box as the duo of Rivello and Henley often do, their next goal was to enter the Philadelphia Flower Show, which could be a potentially overwhelming experience. Success! Not only were they well prepared and met every task till the big day with pride, they also received ribbons for prize plants, not just because they “showed up.”
How could they follow up such an exciting triumph? Needless to say the trend of unique opportunities continued for Growing Green. They pulled out their green thumbs and started gardening in Kasey’s backyard. They grew tons of cucumbers and other harvestables which were sold at The Connect Plus stand at a local farmers market. Clients took turns every Sunday with their dedicated CPT Behavior Technician on site to help them carry out all their newly acquired job skills; handling money/change, customer service, merchandising, setup and breakdown. For over three months the Growing Green Team saw more personal Success!
The cucumbers of 2019 were more plentiful than expected which turned into yet another opportunity. The team started to jar their own pickles and coined the new venture, Pickles with a Purpose. With over 100 jars of practice pickling, it wasn’t a perfect recipe...but we learned that life is not always perfect but we keep trying.
With the guidance of Connect Plus Therapy’s support. The Growing Green Boutique is now ready to branch out. It has expanded its weekly social skills group into real world application. Through the “Shop” section on the Connect Plus Therapy Website anyone in the US can support the hardworking and expanding team as they prepare handmade crafts like seed bombs and coasters.
